The price in one line
Number of tiles × price per tile. That is the whole formula. There is no surcharge for using your own photo, for adapting the image to your wall or for the digital proof. The only things that move the price are how many tiles you need and how big each one is.
| Tile size | "From" price per tile | Tiles per m² | Guide price per m² |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 × 10 cm (4") | €6 | 100 | from €600 |
| 15 × 15 cm (6") | €9 | 44–45 | from €400 |
| 20 × 20 cm (8") | €12 | 25 | from €300 |
"From" prices per tile, the same ones our website calculator uses. Murals start at €72 and single tiles at €5–6. The price per tile drops with quantity, and the final price is fixed in the digital proof before anything is fired.
What makes the price go up or down
1. The number of tiles
This is the factor that matters most. A 100 × 60 cm kitchen splashback is 15 tiles of 20 × 20 cm; the same area in 10 × 10 cm tiles is 60 pieces. Every tile has to be printed, fired, numbered and packed, so more tiles means a higher price.
2. The tile size
To cover the same area, a 20 × 20 cm tile needs four times fewer pieces than a 10 × 10 cm tile and costs only twice as much per piece. For the same square metres, 20 × 20 cm is the cheapest format and the one we recommend unless there is a reason to choose another:
- 10 × 10 cm: small plaques, borders, details and murals with a mosaic feel.
- 15 × 15 cm: the classic format in many Spanish kitchens and bathrooms; useful when the mural has to sit next to existing tiles of that size.
- 20 × 20 cm: splashbacks, showers, patios and facades. Fewer grout lines and the best price per metre.
3. Your own photo or a catalogue design
Same price. The image is sublimated in full colour either way, so a photograph with a thousand shades costs no more than a two-colour drawing. We adapt the image to your measurements and send you a mock-up of the mural split into tiles for approval; that work is included.
4. Quantity
The price per tile drops as the mural gets bigger. The figures on this page are reference "from" prices: for large murals, or if you are a renovator, hotel or restaurant ordering several, ask for a quote and we will prepare volume pricing and a VAT invoice.
5. What does not change the price
- The number of colours or how complex the image is.
- Adding text, a name or a crest to the design.
- Walls that are not an exact multiple of the tile size: we cut the edge pieces at no charge.
- The digital proof and any changes until you are happy with it.
Example prices by size
Five common configurations, worked out with the "from" prices per tile. Use them to get a feel for the budget before asking for a quote.
| Size | Typical use | Tile | Tiles | "From" price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 45 × 45 cm (18 × 18") | Ceramic picture or entrance plaque | 15 × 15 | 9 (3 × 3) | €81 |
| 60 × 40 cm (24 × 16") | Behind the sink | 20 × 20 | 6 (3 × 2) | €72 |
| 80 × 60 cm (32 × 24") | Behind the hob | 20 × 20 | 12 (4 × 3) | €144 |
| 120 × 80 cm (47 × 32") | Shower wall or bed headboard | 20 × 20 | 24 (6 × 4) | €288 |
| 200 × 120 cm (79 × 47") | Patio or garden wall | 20 × 20 | 60 (10 × 6) | €720 |
Guide prices only. The fixed price comes with your digital proof, and on large murals the price per tile comes down. The custom tile mural page has a calculator where you can enter your own measurements.
Kitchen backsplash mural: a realistic budget
The most common request is the strip between the worktop and the wall units, usually about 60 cm (24") high. In 20 × 20 cm tiles that is three rows, so every linear metre of splashback takes 15 tiles: from €180 per linear metre. A kitchen with 2.4 m of continuous run would be 36 tiles, from €432. If you only want to decorate the area behind the hob or the sink, a 60 × 40 or 80 × 60 cm mural costs between €72 and €144 and the rest of the wall can be plain tile.
Kiln-fired ceramic, vinyl or hand-painted: an honest comparison
"Tile mural" means very different things depending on who is selling it. These are the three options you will come across and how they really differ.
| Vinyl or adhesive film | Sublimated ceramic mural (ours) | Hand-painted mural | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Cheapest | From €72 | Usually far more expensive: hundreds to thousands of euros depending on the artist |
| Lifespan | As long as the glue lasts; lifts with heat and damp | Decades: the colour is inside the glaze | Decades if properly glazed and fired |
| Kitchen (heat, grease) | Not advisable behind a hob | Yes | Yes |
| Outdoors (sun, rain) | No | Yes, including facades and pools | Yes |
| Your own photo | Yes, printed | Yes, at photographic quality | The artist's interpretation, not an exact reproduction |
| Lead time | Days | 5 working days | Weeks or months |
If you want something temporary or for a rental, vinyl is a reasonable choice. If you want a one-off piece of art and budget is not the issue, a hand-painted mural is a different category altogether. To reproduce a specific image, for good, in a kitchen, bathroom or outdoors, sublimated ceramic sits in the middle: tile prices, tile durability.
How to spend less without giving anything up
- Choose 20 × 20 cm whenever you can. It is the format with the best price per metre.
- Think in multiples of 20 cm. An 80 × 60 cm mural is 12 whole tiles; 85 × 65 cm is 16, because an extra row and column are needed even though we cut them down.
- Order once. An entrance plaque, the kitchen mural and a few loose tiles in a single shipment.
- Ask for volume pricing if you are a professional or ordering several murals.
