How much does a custom tile mural cost?

Short answer: a custom ceramic tile mural costs from €72, and the price is simply the number of tiles multiplied by a per-tile price of €6 to €12 depending on size. Here is where every euro comes from, with worked examples by size and an honest comparison with the alternatives.

  • Murals from €72; single tiles from €5–6 each.
  • "From" price per tile: €6 (10 × 10), €9 (15 × 15), €12 (20 × 20 cm).
  • Your own photo or a catalogue design: same price.
  • Fixed price in the digital proof, before anything is made. No surprises.

The price in one line

Number of tiles × price per tile. That is the whole formula. There is no surcharge for using your own photo, for adapting the image to your wall or for the digital proof. The only things that move the price are how many tiles you need and how big each one is.

Tile size"From" price per tileTiles per m²Guide price per m²
10 × 10 cm (4")€6100from €600
15 × 15 cm (6")€944–45from €400
20 × 20 cm (8")€1225from €300

"From" prices per tile, the same ones our website calculator uses. Murals start at €72 and single tiles at €5–6. The price per tile drops with quantity, and the final price is fixed in the digital proof before anything is fired.

What makes the price go up or down

1. The number of tiles

This is the factor that matters most. A 100 × 60 cm kitchen splashback is 15 tiles of 20 × 20 cm; the same area in 10 × 10 cm tiles is 60 pieces. Every tile has to be printed, fired, numbered and packed, so more tiles means a higher price.

2. The tile size

To cover the same area, a 20 × 20 cm tile needs four times fewer pieces than a 10 × 10 cm tile and costs only twice as much per piece. For the same square metres, 20 × 20 cm is the cheapest format and the one we recommend unless there is a reason to choose another:

3. Your own photo or a catalogue design

Same price. The image is sublimated in full colour either way, so a photograph with a thousand shades costs no more than a two-colour drawing. We adapt the image to your measurements and send you a mock-up of the mural split into tiles for approval; that work is included.

4. Quantity

The price per tile drops as the mural gets bigger. The figures on this page are reference "from" prices: for large murals, or if you are a renovator, hotel or restaurant ordering several, ask for a quote and we will prepare volume pricing and a VAT invoice.

5. What does not change the price

Kitchen backsplash mural: a realistic budget

The most common request is the strip between the worktop and the wall units, usually about 60 cm (24") high. In 20 × 20 cm tiles that is three rows, so every linear metre of splashback takes 15 tiles: from €180 per linear metre. A kitchen with 2.4 m of continuous run would be 36 tiles, from €432. If you only want to decorate the area behind the hob or the sink, a 60 × 40 or 80 × 60 cm mural costs between €72 and €144 and the rest of the wall can be plain tile.

Behind the hob the colour does not darken or blister: it sits inside the glaze, not on top of it. Clean it with degreaser and a scouring pad like any other tile.

Kiln-fired ceramic, vinyl or hand-painted: an honest comparison

"Tile mural" means very different things depending on who is selling it. These are the three options you will come across and how they really differ.

If you want something temporary or for a rental, vinyl is a reasonable choice. If you want a one-off piece of art and budget is not the issue, a hand-painted mural is a different category altogether. To reproduce a specific image, for good, in a kitchen, bathroom or outdoors, sublimated ceramic sits in the middle: tile prices, tile durability.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a one-metre tile mural cost?

It depends on the height. A 100 × 60 cm mural in 20 × 20 cm tiles is 15 pieces, from €180; a 100 × 100 cm mural is 25 pieces, from €300. At this size the price per tile starts to come down, so ask for a quote to get the fixed price.

Is it more expensive if I send my own photo?

No. A mural from your photo costs the same as a catalogue design of the same size. Adapting the image and preparing the digital proof is included.

Is there a minimum order?

No. Murals start at €72 and single tiles at €5–6 each, with no minimum quantity.

Does the price include installation?

No, the price is for the mural. It goes up like any ceramic tile, with flexible tile adhesive and a narrow grout joint, and any tiler can do it. See our installation guide for the steps.

How much is shipping?

We ship across Europe; within Spain shipping is free from €100. Shipping to the rest of the world is quoted case by case, together with your proof.

Can I know the exact price before paying?

Yes. With the digital proof, within 24 working hours, you receive a fixed price. Nothing is made until you approve both the proof and the price.
