This ceramic coaster set synthesizes three distinct but historically interconnected tile traditions: Ottoman Iznik ceramics from the classical period (1480-1620), Portuguese azulejo tilework from the Baroque and Pombaline eras (1650-1780), and the British Arts and Crafts revival of Mediterranean tile techniques under William De Morgan and the Della Robbia Pottery (1870-1910). Each coaster translates architectural revetment panels—tiles designed to clad mosque interiors, palace halls, church sacristies, and domestic wainscoting—into a functional domestic object that retains the visual grammar and chromatic intensity of monumental ceramic art.
